When we were approached by Yasmin Shakarami to write a soundtrack for her book „Sturmflirren“, we were both honored and intrigued. The book takes place in Qatar, and Shakarami was clear that the book soundtrack was to reflect that. Even though the band’s bass player Sahand has Persian roots and grew up hearing oriental music at home, those influences had never really entered the music we wrote in the band. We got to work together in guitarist and band producer Jan’s studio and Sahand showed some different Middle Eastern songs he liked. Not before long, singer/flutist Matt wrote the signature flute melody of the song and we had its initial embryo ready. We spent the next months evolving and perfecting that embryo, and we’re very proud to show you the final result.
